Jr. Medical Data Engineer

What to expect

Collect, analyze and interpret information from peer-reviewed scientific journals and publicly accessible databases with biomedical content
Formulate techniques for quality data collection to ensure the adequacy, accuracy and legitimacy of data
Assess data quality for further processing
Establish and maintain a database suitable for data mining as part of a collaborative team
Unify datasets of different origins by applying appropriate statistical techniques
Assist with reports and data extraction when needed
Troubleshoot data-related problems and authorize maintenance or modifications
Establish and lead a team of experts and supervise undergraduate/ graduate students
Initiate and take a leading position in data-driven biomedical research projects

What you should bring

Master’s degree in Bioinformatics or a similar field
Proficient in the languages R, Python & Shell script as well as frameworks to analyze biomedical data (i.e. samtools, GenomicRanges, pysam etc.)
Familiarity with relational as well as non-relational databases
Experience in High Performance Computing environments
Strong analytical skills, especially in statistics
Proficiency in handling biomedical data, especially array- and sequence data, and knowledge of imaging data is a plus.
Ability to understand scientific literature
Very good English communication skills, German is a plus
