Highlighting the Remaining84 Challenge in Cancer AI

At the “Science Sparks Startups” event, our co-founder and CEO, Dr. Manasi A. Ratnaparkhe, shared PAICON’s pioneering vision for building inclusive artificial intelligence solutions for cancer diagnostics. Speaking to an audience of scientific and industry leaders, Manasi shed light on a critical challenge: while 82% of existing AI training datasets come from the 16% of the global population that is Caucasian, the remaining 84% remain vastly underrepresented. This disparity fuels inequality in research and treatment outcomes. At PAICON, we are committed to closing this gap through the Remaining84 campaign.

The initiative aims to diversify oncology datasets, address systemic biases in AI-driven healthcare, and ensure innovations serve the entire global population, not just the priviliged few. By anchoring PAICON’s mission in equity and representation, Manasi underscored the need for a collective push to reshape how AI learns and benefits patients worldwide.

Building Momentum with Global Innovation Leaders

The event sparked thought-provoking discussions on Europe’s role in accelerating innovation. Manasi emphasized that “Europe must move faster to build, fund, and scale medical deep tech,” calling for courage, inclusion, and bold execution from founders and policymakers alike.

PAICON’s participation reinforced the urgency of building partnerships that champion equitable AI solutions in oncology. The conversations highlighted how collaboration between startups, researchers, and health equity advocates is key to transforming cancer care for every patient, everywhere.
